Alexander Matthee was born in 1989 in Cape Town, South Africa. He attended Cape Peninsula University of technology (CPUT) and graduated with a diploma in electrical engineering in 2010. After, he attended the University of Stellenbosch graduating with a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering in 2014.
Working full time as an application design engineer at Azoteq, he continued with his master’s degree part time at Stellenbosch graduating in 2017 (Cum Laude). His master’s thesis topic included design, manufacturing and testing of a magnetic gear for dry cooling (ACC) power plant applications. In April 2017 he started working at Altair FEKO group as a software integrity engineer until his appointment as a PhD candidate and researcher at the University of Twente in October 2019.
Research in the Etopia project:
His PhD research topic, with the EEMCS group at the University of Twente, forms part of the ETOPIA project in the field of electromagnetic compatibility focused on conducted emissions.
